How to Assign Music to Playlists in AzuraCast
Uploading music into AzuraCast is only the first step. To make AutoDJ use those files, you need to assign them to playlists. Playlists tell the system which tracks belong in regular rotation, specialist shows, jingles, adverts or requestable music. Start by logging in at https://stream.onlineaudience.co.uk and selecting your station.
Step-by-step guide
- Open Media, then choose Music Files.
- Browse to the folder containing the audio you want to use.
- Select individual tracks, or select a folder if you want to assign several files together.
- Click the playlist assignment option, often shown as Playlists.
- Choose the target playlist, such as Main Rotation, Overnight, Jingles or Friday Mix.
- Save the change and wait for the media list to update.
- Open the playlist afterwards to confirm the tracks appear where expected.
For a cleaner station sound, avoid placing every track into every playlist. Main rotation should contain your core music. Jingles and sweepers should sit in their own playlist with special timing rules. Adverts should be kept separate for easier management. If a playlist is scheduled but empty, AutoDJ will not have anything useful to play from it. Reviewing playlist contents after making changes is a simple habit that prevents silent slots, repeated tracks and confusing programming later.
