How to Add an SPF Record for Better Email Authentication

Domains & DNS · Self-help guide

SPF helps receiving mail servers check which systems are allowed to send email for your domain. Log in to your DNS provider and open the DNS zone. Look for existing TXT records. A domain should usually have only one SPF record, beginning with v=spf1. If you already have one, update it instead of creating a second SPF record. Add the sending services you use, such as your hosting mail server or third-party email provider. Save the TXT record and allow it to propagate. A simple SPF mistake can cause mail delivery problems, so copy the record carefully. After saving, use an SPF checker to confirm the syntax is valid. If unsure, ask support before replacing an existing SPF record.
