How to Connect to Your VPS Using SSH on Ubuntu or AlmaLinux
VPS Servers · Self-help guide
SSH is the standard way to manage a VPS from the command line. First, find your VPS IP address, SSH username, and SSH port in your service details. On macOS or Linux, open Terminal. On Windows, use PowerShell, Windows Terminal, or an SSH client. Connect with ssh username@server-ip. If your server uses a custom port, use ssh -p 2222 username@server-ip, replacing 2222 with the correct port. Accept the fingerprint only if the IP address is correct. Enter your password or use your SSH key. After login, run hostname and whoami to confirm you are on the correct server. Do not share your root password in support tickets.
