Understanding Standard and Scheduled Playlists in AzuraCast
AzuraCast playlists control the shape and timing of your station output. The two most common playlist styles are standard rotation and scheduled playlists. Knowing the difference helps you build a station that sounds organised instead of random. Log in at https://stream.onlineaudience.co.uk and open the Playlists area to review your current setup.
Standard rotation playlists
A standard rotation playlist is the backbone of your station. AutoDJ can use it whenever no higher-priority scheduled content is active. This is ideal for your everyday music library, general daytime rotation or overnight music. You can usually adjust how often a playlist is selected by changing its weighting or rotation settings.
Scheduled playlists
Scheduled playlists run at specific days and times. They are useful for specialist shows, weekend programming, countdowns, worship services, podcasts, mix shows or themed hours. For example, you might schedule a “Friday Night Dance Mix” every Friday from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
Recommended workflow
- Keep one reliable standard playlist active at all times.
- Create separate scheduled playlists for special programming.
- Check each schedule uses the correct day, start time, end time and timezone.
- Confirm every scheduled playlist contains enough audio for the slot.
This structure gives your station a dependable default sound while allowing special shows to take over automatically at the right time.
