How to Set Up MX Records for Email Delivery

Domains & DNS · Self-help guide

MX records control where email for your domain is delivered. Log in to the DNS provider for your domain and open the DNS zone. Find the existing MX records and check whether they match the mail service you want to use. If you are using OnlineAudience mail hosting, use the MX values supplied in your hosting welcome details. If you are using a third-party mail provider, such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, use the records supplied by that provider. Each MX record normally has a priority number and a mail server hostname. Save the changes and allow DNS propagation. Do not mix different mail provider MX records unless the provider specifically tells you to, as this can cause lost or delayed mail.
