How to Add a New WordPress User Safely
WordPress · Self-help guide
When giving someone access to WordPress, create a separate user account instead of sharing your own login. Go to Users, then Add New. Enter the person’s username, email address, and a strong password or password reset email. Choose the correct role. Use Administrator only for people who truly need full control. Editor is usually enough for managing posts and pages. Author or Contributor may suit content writers. For shops, use ecommerce-specific roles where available. After creating the account, ask the user to set their own password and enable two-factor authentication if available. Remove accounts when access is no longer needed, especially for former staff or developers.
