How to Clean Up Old WordPress Themes and Plugins
WordPress · Self-help guide
Unused themes and plugins can still create security risks if they remain installed. Log in to WordPress and go to Plugins. Deactivate and delete plugins that are no longer needed. Do not delete plugins if you are unsure whether the website uses them. Next, go to Appearance, then Themes. Keep your active theme and, if possible, one default fallback theme. Delete old themes you do not use. Before removing anything major, take a backup. After cleanup, test the website carefully, including forms, sliders, galleries, shop pages, and login areas. Keeping WordPress tidy makes updates easier, reduces attack surface, and helps developers troubleshoot problems faster.
