How to Put WordPress into Maintenance Mode
WordPress · Self-help guide
Maintenance mode is useful when updating a live website, changing design, or fixing a problem. Install a trusted maintenance mode plugin or use a feature already included in your theme or builder. Enable maintenance mode and add a clear message, such as We are making updates and will be back shortly. If possible, include contact details or a support email for urgent enquiries. Do not leave maintenance mode enabled longer than necessary, because visitors and search engines may think the site is unavailable. Test the site in a private browser window to confirm visitors see the maintenance message while administrators can still log in. Disable maintenance mode once the work is complete and test important pages again.
